There was a genuine sense of care by all involved both admin and medical staff. I felt that everything was clearly explained which is reassuring. The admin staff were calm and very professional and an excellent team.I felt like a client who was valued not a patient who was a burden.

I have been a Patient for many years and have recently made a series of visits. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The Doctor listened to me and understood my concerns. I have been really happy with the way I have been treated and I feel I have been given 1st class support. Thank you!

During my dealings with this practice over the last few years I've found the reception staff to be rude and unhelpful. The operate from behind a small glass window like a post office from which you can see a chaotic office behind them. They don't seem to understand they are dealing with people that are unwell! It's impossible to get through on the phone and internet appointment don't offer anything less than a month away. I have been back repeatedly with pain. I first went to the GP with my current condition 18 months ago and only recently have I been referred to the correct consultant. I have never seen a medical centre as unclean as this one. They will give the excuse they are moving premises but there is no excuse for this. Clean it! I don't feel safe or looked after. As soon as I have a diagnosis I'm off.

We are sorry if you are unhappy with the service you have received from us. Our reception staff are here to help you and are very well aware of their responsibility to the patient and are happy to help as much as they can. Whilst saying that, they can only work within the remit that they have and often take the brunt of patients’ frustration when expectations cannot be met. We realise that the glass screen is a bit dated and it can give the wrong impression. Needless to say, the new premises will not have this in situ. Whilst it may look unclean, the practice is cleaned on a daily basis by a specialist company. If you have specific concerns we would very much welcome them so that we can direct these comments to the cleaning contractor. We are all looking forward to our forthcoming move when a lot of the building issues will be addressed and our patients can benefit from brand new clean offices. Whilst we were initially hoping to move in December 2014, this has been pushed back to July 2015 due to circumstances beyond our control. When we do eventually move, we shall have a safe and hopefully calm environment for both patients and staff alike. Meanwhile we are working on our appointment system to try and alleviate the wait for routine appointments. Part of the difficulty in getting appointments has been identified as patients who book and then do not attend, therefore restricting other patients from booking. Our PPG want us to make our patients aware of how many people DNA on a weekly basis in an effort to stop this and these statistics are now being displayed in the practice.

It was easy enough getting the appointment and I arrived 10 minutes early - to be still in the waiting room fifteen minutes after my allotted appointment time is cause for concern. When I asked the receptionist if I would be seeing the doctor soon I was informed there was a patient before me still in the waiting room! I suggested that it was likely I would have a further twenty minutes wait and was advised that that was very likely. What I would like to know is why this appointment was given to me in the first place? To be expected to wait 35 minutes to see a GP is totally out of the question. Needless to say I left - I had somewhere else I needed to be - something that receptionists should consider before they allot appointments. All around the surgery there are notices suggesting it is unnecessary to go to A&E and giving all the reasons. I shall go to A&E - at least there I know I will have a long wait and so will go prepared for that. My nearest doctors surgery is too fully booked to take extra patients and they are better time keepers - so no clues why they cannot take extra patients.

Thank you for your feedback. The doctors make every effort to ensure that clinics run to time but this is not always possible as every patient has different needs and they deal with them accordingly. It is impossible to predict what will happen during an appointment and, if something does occur out of the ordinary, then this does delay clinics periodically. Our receptionists cannot possibly know what will happen when they book the appointment and they do their absolute best to help people as much as they are able. In a perfect world we would strive to have all clinics running to time but in a human world, this is rarely possible. Please accept our apologies if you were disappointed on this visit.

As a manager with the responsibility for the care provision of 65 older people in an Extra Care Housing scheme in Bromley it is vital we have good partnership working with all external agencies - in particular the GP service. Dr Essop has been the named GP for the building for several months since joining the Southborough Lane Surgery. I have found his approach to both the acute and general health needs of our residents of immense value. I am absolutely sure his holistic and thorough approach to our resident's health needs and his pro-activeness in reviewing of medication has enhanced our service user's health and general well-being.
